6U Class Behavior Guidelines

Sickness Guidelines

What happens if a child is not listening to the coach or is disruptive during practice?

If a child is not following instructions or is being disruptive, the coach may ask

them to sit out for a brief period. This is a gentle reminder for the child to be

mindful of their actions and considerate of others in the class.

Absolutely. The aim of having a child sit out is not to exclude them but to

provide a moment for reflection. They will be invited back to participate in the

next activity after a brief break.

While it’s not a common occurrence, coaches may ask a child to sit out if their

behavior is consistently disruptive or if they are not following safety guidelines.

This could happen during any activity that requires focus and cooperation.

The purpose is to teach children about being mindful of their actions and considerate of others. It’s an opportunity for them to understand the importance of following instructions and maintaining a positive and respectful environment for everyone in the class.

Coaches handle this situation with care and sensitivity. The child is briefly removed from the activity, given a chance to reflect, and then reintegrated into the class for the next activity. This approach is designed to be a learning experience rather than a punitive measure.

Parents can support this coaching method by reinforcing the importance of following instructions and being respectful during practices. It’s a valuable lesson in teamwork and consideration for others.

No, sitting out is a temporary measure to address immediate behavior concerns. There are no long-term consequences, and the child is encouraged to actively participate in subsequent activities.

What should I do if my child is feeling unwell on the day of practice?

If your child is not feeling well, we kindly ask that you keep them at home. This helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures the well-being of all participants. Inform the coach of your child’s absence, and we’ll catch up when they are feeling better.

If your child starts feeling unwell during practice, our coaches will notify you immediately. Please ensure that we have updated contact information so we can reach you promptly. If a coach observes that a child is unwell, they may need to be removed from class for their well-being. A makeup session will be offered.

To prevent the potential spread of illness, we recommend that your child stay

home until they are fully recovered and symptom-free for at least 24 hours

without the use of medication.

For minor illnesses, such as a common cold, we recommend keeping your child home until they are no longer contagious and feel well enough to participate actively.

While a doctor’s note is not mandatory, it’s helpful to communicate with the
coach about your child’s health status. This ensures that we can provide the best
support and adapt activities accordingly.

If your child misses a practice due to illness, the coach will do their best to help them catch up on any missed activities or skills in subsequent sessions. Consistent attendance is beneficial for your child’s overall progress.

Our coaches are trained to encourage regular handwashing, promote cleanliness of equipment, and monitor children for signs of illness. We also appreciate parents’ cooperation in adhering to these guidelines to create a healthy practice environment.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all participants. This approach helps instill valuable life skills while ensuring that every child can enjoy a fun and safe basketball experience.

Your understanding and cooperation regarding sickness guidelines are crucial in maintaining a safe and enjoyable basketball experience for all participants. Thank you for helping us prioritize the health and well-being of our young athletes!
